Anthony Lake (Chair)

During his government service, Tony served as Director of Policy Planning in the State Department and as National Security Advisor. Tony most recently was the Executive Director of UNICEF and has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations. He ran a family farm while teaching at the Five Colleges in western Massachusetts, and later taught at Georgetown University. He has published a number of books and articles on national security issues.

Cindy Deere

Cindy is a retired Finance Executive from Shell Oil Company. During her time with Shell, her responsibilities ranged across a multitude of finance roles to include Head of Internal Audit, General Manager of US Pension Plans, Mergers & Acquisitions and various business unit Vice President Finance roles. Cindy also worked as a commercial lender at Union Bank of Switzerland, Credit Suisse First Boston and The Bank of Nova Scotia prior to her time with Shell. She holds a BS in Accountancy from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Houston.

Mark Herskind

Mark has spent the last 25 years working in the hardwood lumber industry for Baillie Lumber. He lives in Buffalo, NY with his wife, Joelle - who is by far, the best part of their partnership. They have four kids and 3 grandsons. Joelle and Mark are deeply invested in different holistic ministries in the city, focusing on health and empowerment, and really enjoy building renovation projects as it relates to these organizations. Prior to moving back to Buffalo, Mark spent 8 years in active duty military service (US Army Special Forces).

Andrew Jones

Andrew is currently the Vice President of Global Education Programs at Impact(Ed), formerly Discovery Learning Alliance. He has over 25 years of experience in the international development and human rights field with extensive programmatic and policy experience overseas and in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Impact(Ed), Andrew worked for a range of organizations globally, including CARE, Oxfam, Save the Children, UNICEF and International Justice Mission. Andrew holds a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Area Studies and Economics from Duke, a Master's degree in Public and International Affairs from Princeton, and a Law degree from UVA.

Debra LaPrevotte

Debra LaPrevotte works for The Sentry as Senior Investigator, focusing on Violent Kleptocracy by tracing the proceeds of political elites whose greed fuels war crimes and atrocities in Sudan, South Sudan, Congo (DRC), and CAR. Debra retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after 20 years of service as a Supervisory Special Agent on the International Corruption Unit. She was instrumental in initiating the FBI's Kleptocracy program and seized more than $1 billion dollars from foreign corrupt officials. Debra completed her undergraduate degree at George Mason University as well as a masters degree in Forensic Science at George Washington University.

Kevin Marshall

Kevin Marshall is a partner in the global law firm Jones Day, in its Washington, DC, office. He is a litigator in the Firm's Issues & Appeals practice, which focuses on appeals, motions, and legal analysis. He joined Jones Day in 2007 and joined its partnership in 2010. Before joining Jones Day, Kevin was a deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel. He provided authoritative written legal opinions and other legal advice, throughout the executive branch, on the Constitution, treaties, international law including the law of war, and federal statutes and regulations. He also testified three times before Congress. After law school, he clerked on the U.S. Supreme Court for Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. Kevin is a member of Restoration Anglican Church in Arlington, VA, and has served on the church's governing board (vestry) and as a lay chairman (warden). He is a member of the standing committee of the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, of which Restoration is a part.

Carolyn Weimer

Carolyn S. Weimer is a Managing Director in the Investor Relations Group at Carlyle. She is based in Washington, DC. Since joining Carlyle in 2000, Carolyn has been involved in relationship management, product development, fund formation and marketing strategy for many of the firm's investment partnerships. Prior to joining Carlyle, Carolyn was a Client Service Analyst at Wellington Management Company, LLP in Boston. Carolyn received an AB, in biology and comparative area studies from Duke University.
